Are you planning to apply to an art or design program abroad, or help students do so? *National Portfolio Day Events are a fantastic opportunity.
Meet with Representatives from Arts Programs
At a National Portfolio Day event, students connect with admissions officers, faculty, and counselors, from accredited art and design universities around the globe. It’s a rare chance to ask specific questions and get real advice, straight from the source. It is also your chance to see if the program matches your objectives.
Get Direct Feedback on Your Work
In 10–15 minute sessions, reviewers give constructive feedback on your work to help you organize your portfolio before applying. Many schools are interested to learn your process and method of thinking, so not all work needs to be finished, and works in progress are also welcome.
Experience the Admissions Environment
Whether virtual or in-person, you’ll step into a space full of creative energy from a wide range of participating institutions. You’ll leave with a better understanding of the wide range of programs and opportunities, what different schools are looking for, and your next steps to apply.
Virtual Events Bring National Portfolio Day to You
You’ll still meet with school reps and share your portfolio via video or screen share. In the 2025-26 season, there will be four virtual events for undergraduates: Sep 6, Dec 6, Jan 11, and May 9.
How to Prepare and Participate
Register in advance - it's free
Prepare to show 10–12 pieces that show your skills and creative range
Have a positive growth mindset around receiving feedback around your work
Be prepared to ask your specific questions, take notes, and save the rep's contact information
Think of National Portfolio Day as a gift of clarity and confidence. It's not an exam, nor a competition! Neither is it an admissions review. It is an opportunity to learn, grow, and better understand your arts education journey. Students return more inspired, informed, and better prepared for applying to creative programs.
